Risk Stratification and Management of Acute Myeloid Leukemia
نویسنده
چکیده
A cute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a heterogeneous group of distinct clonal malignancies that differ in their pathogenesis, clinical characteristics, genetic abnormalities, response to treatment, and prognosis (Swerdlow et al., 2008). Acute myeloid leukemia is characterized by a clonal proliferation of myeloid precursors with reduced or absent capacity for differentiation, as well as according to morphology, immunohistochemistry, cell surface markers, cytogenetic abnormalities, and molecular abnormalities. The most important prognostic factors have been shown to be cytogenetic/molecular characteristics of the AML, patient age, and patient performance status (Kantarjian, Schiffer, & Burnett, 2011).

Clinical and Laboratory Findings of Cup-Like Nuclei in Blasts with FLT3 Mutation in Pediatric Acute Myeloid Leukemia: A Case Report
Biologically, Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is highly heterogenous. AML with cup-like blast morphology variant has been reported to have important role in risk group stratification and treatment implications. In pediatric age group, this morphology and its clinical implication is rarely discussed. Although this morphology variant is not stated in World Health Organization (WHO) classification of...
متن کاملImmunophenotyping of Acute Leukemia in Northwestern Iran
The significance of immunophenotyping is growing day by day. Itprovides basic information in regard to classification and prognosisof acute leukemia which helps the management of patients. Thisstudy was conducted to Identify CD markers in leukemic patientsadmitted to Tabriz, in northwestern Iran. Immunophenotyping of 60patients with acute leukemia was determined. Patients with acutemyelogenous ...
متن کاملMolecular Genetic Markers in Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Genetics play an increasingly important role in the risk stratification and management of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients. Traditionally, AML classification and risk stratification relied on cytogenetic studies; however, molecular detection of gene mutations is playing an increasingly important role in classification, risk stratification, and management of AML. Molecular testing does not ...
متن کاملA Rare Case of Acute Myeloid Leukemia with Translocation (3:3) Presenting with Features of Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia
Background: Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) with translocation (3,3) is a form of AML that may present de novo or may arise from a previous myelodysplastic syndrome. It is often associated with normal or elevated peripheral blood platelet count and increased bone marrow megakaryocytes with associated multi lineage dysplasia. A subset of patients present with hepatosplenomegaly while a few cases h...
متن کاملLipid profile and oxidized lipoprotein levels in patients with acute myeloid leukemia
Background: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is blood and bone marrow malignancy. Low-density oxidative lipoprotein (oxLDL) is a pro-inflammatory factor that has free radicals in its structure. OxLDL levels are also rising in diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and some cancers. Studies have shown that oxLDL and dyslipidemia are more common in patients with various cancers. This stud...
